At JR Moving Services we believe it is imperative that you spend the extra money to get the job done right when it comes to packing your fragile items. Make sure you have the right supplies on hand, because breakages will occur less frequently. Damages can be costly when it comes to fragile items breaking during a move, so all the more reason to be prepared. Moving companies in St. Catharines and the Niagara Region can help you prepare and get the job done right. But, of course even if you were using the best moving company in Niagara, poor packing of fragile items can happen and will always lead to lots of breakage and damaged goods. Good packing is extremely important. We at JR Moving Services understand the value of proper packing of fragile items, and we stress this, especially on a long distance move

Dishware And Glasses

Glasses should be wrapped individually in Foam, 2 12″ by 12″ sheets per glass. After conducting this step, wrap each foam layered glass in a sheet of wrapping paper, 1 24″ by 30″ sheet. Then place in small to medium packing box. The boxes should be lined with ample packing paper. You can minimize the costs by using your towels or any items that fit into the boxes that has some cushion to it. The heaviest glasses should go at the bottom of the box, while the lighter ones should be placed at the top. Pack plates vertically in small to medium boxes using foam and a layer of wrapping paper. The packing boxes should be lined with wrapping paper, both at the top and the bottom. Each plate should be wrapped in bubble wrap before being placed in the box.

LAMPS

Lamps and lamp shades should be placed in a tote preferably or a box, containing a lot wrapping paper as protection. You can also place them in a large but relatively well-fitted box with bubble wrap surrounding the item, and where necessary, but I think this goes to far and the less plastic, the better.

PICTURES/Mirrors/Miscellaneous

Your pictures and mirrors, depending the size, should be packed into picture and mirror boxes. These boxes are typically sold at home stores or your local UHaul in St. Catharines & The Niagara Region. Your Small to medium sized pictures and mirrors should be packed in Wrapping paper lined medium to small boxes. They should be placed in a standing position and the spaces between them, filled with Crumpled papers.

If you have oddly shaped fragile items or specialty items, it is vital to consider their sizes and place them with adequate cushioning in relatively large Crates or boxes. One of the downsides of using crates is that it can hurt your wallet if you hire a professional moving company in The Niagara Region, because of the space it takes up in there fleets.

Make sure to recycle, compost or resell your packing supplies when you have finished the job.
